"I liken this album to a Bob Ross painting where I painted the backdrop and everyone else added thier share of the picture...sometimes without ever knowing what others had painted. At the end I tried to make sense of everyone's contributions and produce the album adding my part last and maybe moving around a mountain or tree or two. The concepts of each song represent different ways that have helped me through times of struggle. I shot the videos in my backyard."
"This is a composition based on the Earth's seasons and cycle around the sun. The chords pass through the cycle of fifths and are divided into four parts which represent each season. It begins with spring which is portrayed in major seventh chords, summer in dominant seventh chords, fall in major/minor seventh chords, then ends with winter in minor seventh chords. The piece completes the cycle by ending the composition on the same note it began with."
"This jazz/blues album is a collection of personally sentimental songs that were influential in my growth as a person and as a musician. It was recorded with my long time friend and collaborator Doug Largent. Doug and I recorded this duo album together at a friend's house after playing together in bands for many years."
"The lyrics and melody of this piece were composed to fit with Dave Gopoian's prerecorded piano piece 'The Thought'. Ahhhh....lost love."
"This composition is conceptually about the changing nature of our brains...the way in which we grow and our perception changes. The piece moves from one chord to another representing the evolution of the self over time. Or something like that."
"This album is one 45 minute piece that expresses the cycle I have gone through struggling with an illness. It depicts starting anew and building momentum and strength only to eventually decompensate and crash. Then it regains purpose and resolve, and once again gets up and starts all over again. And throughout the cycle always singing."
"This is another acoustic bass, sax duo album recorded with one of my musical partners in life, Matt Brandau. This album is a celebration of our love to improvise within a groove, with no particular place to go...only whereever we are taken."
"This is a live recording of my group 'subtone' playing some compositions of mine. These moments captured are a reflection of our group at the time, full of fun and vigor. A special thank you to Al Weber for capturing this special night."
